Annihilate the landfill, adopt a Depression-era design icon for your shelfie

This is the good stuff: a genuine Chase Brass & Copper Company cat bookend, designed by Walter Von Nessen circa 1930s. Marked with the iconic Chase centaur logo and "PAT. APPLD. FOR" stamp on the base. Solid brass construction with that perfect Art Deco tubular minimalism—the cat reduced to pure geometric form with bug eyes and perky ears. Shows honest age with some patina and minor spotting on the base plate, but the body retains excellent polish. Single bookend, not a pair.

The D'Beetle Difference • Authenticated Chase Marking: Clear Chase centaur archer logo stamped on leg, plus "PAT. APPLD. FOR" on base edge. This is the real McCoy, not a reproduction.

• Walter Von Nessen Design: Bauhaus-trained designer who brought European modernism to American manufacturing. This cat is museum-collected and regularly cited in Art Deco reference books.

• Solid Brass, Perfect Scale: Measures approximately 7" tall (to tail tip) x 4.5" wide on a 3" square base. Hefty enough to actually hold books, handsome enough to stand alone.
