Pair Contemporary Ash Side Tables, Altura Furniture Shou Sugi Ban-Style Black Finish, Geometric Base

Annihilate the landfill, embrace the drama with this moody matched set

A striking pair of contemporary studio side tables that refuse to fade into the background. Crafted by Altura Furniture—the elite Portland, Oregon studio building architecturally driven pieces exclusively for the design trade—this matched pair features a bold, shou sugi ban-inspired black finish over premium ash that lets the heavy grain texture do the talking. The geometric bases feature visible through-tenon joinery—someone cared deeply about how these were built. Clean lines, architectural presence, zero apologies. These read Japanese-Scandinavian hybrid, built to luxury showroom specifications. Minor surface wear consistent with actual use in an actual home, but the dark finish presents beautifully.

The D'Beetle Difference

• Certified Studio Pedigree: Both tables bear the authentic inset brass Altura medallion on their undersides: "Modern Archetypes in the Making." This stamp verifies a rare trade-only piece built for architects and interior designers, not standard retail.

• Masterful Through-Tenon Joinery: Visible joinery at the base stretchers shows real, high-end woodworking, not just glue and hope. The cross-stretcher design keeps these rock solid while maintaining a bold modernist profile.

• Premium Visual Lightness: Approximately 24"W x 18"D x 22"H each—ideal for flanking a luxury sofa or acting as low-profile nightstands. The open, intersecting base design ensures visual breathing room despite their substantial weight and presence.
